Growing plants in a hydroponic system is quite different from growing them in a natural setting. For example, growers cannot use conventional gardening containers and pots for growing hydroponically. Hydroponic systems require special net pots and cups.

What are net pots?

Net pots and net cups are designed specifically for growing plants in hydroponic systems. Net pots are webbed plastic containers that have openings in the bottom. Net cups are exactly like net pots, but they are made for smaller plants.

Usually, net pots and cups are used in ebb and flow, aeroponic, and deep water culture systems. In a hydroponic drip system, it is better to use net and pots, but normal gardening pots can also be used.

There are several reasons why net cups and pots are designed like that. The main reason is the ease of entry of hydroponic nutrients in the root zone and the draining out of the solution effectively. These holes are also a great source of aeration. Because of the holes, the roots can easily grow out of the cup or net, taking in the maximum amount of oxygen required for a stronger root system.

Plus, you have a variety of sizes to choose from depending on your hydroponic system. Net pots and cups are round and square-shaped, promoting healthy growing plants!

How do you use net pots and cups?

Using net pots and cups is not very complicated. They can be used with all hydroponic growing mediums, including coco, clay pebbles, and rock wool.

All you have to do is wait for the starter plug or block to harden, and then insert the into the pot or cup and youre off to the races.

Ideal net pot size for hydroponics?

Remember size matters. Bigger pot = ample space for your plant to grow. Choosing the size of the net pot also depends entirely on the size of your hydroponic system. Just measure the size of your grow sites and choose accordingly. We carry a wide range of sizes in net pots and cups from 2” to 10”
